"Nice looking, poor cooking!" 2010-10-03
By GRakaska (Indianapolis, IN United States)
My wife and I really liked the look, size and feature set of this toaster. However, the outer facing side of both slices toast were burned (or much darker at lower setting) on the top third, and not toasted at all on the bottom third on all settings tested. The inward facing sides were barely toasted, the inner heating coils were barely lit, while the outer coils were bright red.

We tried various settings, and had the same poor results. Back to Amazon it went. Replaced it with a KitchenAid KMTT200SS, which had even worse performance! Center coils were barely lit, so back it went!

After reading countless reviews of dozens of toasters over the past few weeks, I have yet to find a review of any model that did not have at least a few complaints of poor toasting performance. Evidently it's a real crap shoot out there!

Now waiting on a Cuisinart CPT-170, if Amazon doesn't cut me off testing all their toasters :)
(just kidding about being cut off, I've had excellent service from Amazon, and have no reason to believe they would do such a thing)

"Who needs a Toaster to Beep at them???" 2010-09-28
By cdnpike
Ok...the toaster works fine most of the time but come on enough with a toaster beeping at me...it isn't rocket science to remember you put a piece of bread or a bagel in a toaster. The high pitched squeal of this beep is maddening and I want to turn it off!! I contacted Breville and their response was:

You cannot disable the audible beep. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Do yourself a favor and buy something else that will toast just as well without annoying you in the process.

"Toaster" 2010-09-06

Very good. Worth the extra cost. Consistent results once you decide the time /degree of toasting you desire. The chime that signals a finished product is wonderful and a reminder that helps eliminate cold toast . Works very well with Bagels

"Great Toaster" 2010-08-21

Finally got sick of my $10 toaster and threw it in the trash. Research for the best toaster brought me to this one and the reviews are not wrong. I like the countdown display to know how long it is cooking. Bagel setting works well also does the extra lift. Great look to match all stainless appliances, and it feels like its built with quality in mind.

"Breville CT70XL Toaster Review" 2010-08-04
By J. Baldwin (Cincinnati, OH USA)
We purchased this toaster about two months ago. The toaster provides great results and uniformly browns the surface of the bread. The toaster works well with all types of bread (including the nut/seed variety) and also works well with bagels. We also found the bagel setting to work well with bread in which we only want one side toasted.

It is easy to clean and the crumb tray works well.
Would purchase again.

  1. The beeper is very annoying (high pitched & loud) and quite unnecessary.
